An immediate care or intervention given to injured person or suddenly taken ill is First aid. There is training for first aid and there are people and centers that are responsible for training.   It can be given a bystander or anyone available with minimal or no medical equipment.  First aid aims to alleviate suffering, prevents added/further injury, and encourages longevity.  A first aider must be gentle so as not to cause more pain, resourceful so that he can make the best use of things at hand, observant so as to notice all signs, tactful so as not to alarm the victim, empathetic so as to be comforting and respectful so as to maintain a professional and caring attitude.  There are hindrances in giving first aid and these hindrances may be of the following; unfavorable surroundings, presence of crowds, and pressure from victim or relatives.  To be able to help when no medical practitioner is around is the best remedy one can give.
